Pascuzzi Pond

Location Tualatin, Oregon.  Located south of Herman Road, north of Manhassett Lane.
Acres 11.6
Steward Jack Broome   info@wetlandsconservancy.org

This property has been transformed from a mat of reed canary grass, to a thriving wetland full of diversity and wildlife.  The centerpiece is an open water pond, complete with four "rest and nest stops" (islands) in the middle. Created in 1988, this environment now attracts bufflehead duck, hooded mergansers, Canada geese, great blue heron, belted kingfishers, swallows, cedar waxwings, beaver and river otter. Each season, new kinds of long-dormant plant life are re-emerging, bolstered by volunteer plantings of native species.

Restoration and Enhancements

This former reed canary grass plain was excavated to create one pond with four small islands.  Berms were built with the spoils from the excavation. Volunteers have planted several hundred trees and shrubs over the years. Most have been protected from beaver damage with wire fencing.

Access

The only unofficial access is over the railroad tracks south of Herman Road.  There are two observation blinds, two bridges and a trail around the pond.
