Apache Bluff wetland is seasonally flooded by the Tualatin River in winter
and becomes partially or totally dry in the summer months. It is
part of a larger greenway made up of Cook Park (Tigard), Tualatin Community
Park, Durham City Park and the Tualatin Country Club.

Waterfowl include Canada geese, mallards, wood duck, hooded merganser,
bufflehead and wigeon. Other birds recorded at this site are Great blue heron,
green heron, bittern, snipe, killdeer, bewick's wren, redwing blackbird and
several species of swallows. The wetland contains dense brush and remnant apple
trees from an old farmstead which support deer, raccoon, and beaver.
Restoration and Enhancements
Using funds from DSL, ponds were excavated and an island was created in the center of the
wetland. Wetland plants were added along the west side after the excavation was
completed. An Eagle Scout project built two foot bridges and a trail.
Trail Access
Two trails provide access to the marsh. One trail leads to the left
(west) along the open water portion of the marsh. The other goes right
(south) from the lower end of the pan-handle access trail. The south pathway
which skirts the scrub-shrub wetland is very muddy after wet winters. The
Apache Bluff neighborhood flanks the wetland on the south bluff above the marsh.
